Dividend Growth Stocks

Money in the Trough – The Dividend Snowball Gets Bigger – August 2017

Another month halfway over and there is no melting this dividend snowball… even in the Georgia heat. I’m continuing to invest the money in my 401k and trading account into the best dividend growth stocks I can find. Hopefully, we’ll see these stocks pay a growing dividend for years and years!

As it often seems, many of the dividend growth stocks I would like buy are very expensive.  Though, I’ve still managed to add quite a bit of forward dividend income so far this month.

I did make one new (and large) controversial pickup this month, IBM.  I admittedly will call this purchase a bit of a gamble.  However, I have done quite a bit of research and it looks like IBM should see a bit of a turnaround in the next couple of quarters.   Time will tell.

New Buys - August 2017

In case this ticker link in the table above isn’t showing for you: HD Dividend Yield, GPC Dividend Yield, STAG Dividend Yield, DFS dividend yield, FAST dividend yield, IBM dividend yieldLOW dividend yield, DIS dividend yield, CSCO dividend yield

My dividend portfolio has been updated with these buys.  I will keep this page updated with additional purchases made this month.

What have you been picking up to grow your dividend snowball this month?

I'm a dividend growth investor who is aiming to retire early in 4 years at the age of 45. My goal is to live off the income my dividend portfolio and rental property produce exclusively and leave the corporate rat race. I hope you will join me in this journey!

  1. DP –

Dayum, that’s serious capital injection, if I can say so myself. Also – I am curious as well on the IBM move, their metrics are just so damn good, hard not to buy them, so I can understand that. Well, you just added a crap ton of income in one swoop and that’s very impressive, enjoy!

      Hi Lanny,

It has indeed been a busy month. Even more so today. I averaged down on IBM today. That will be the end of it though. I now have a full position in this non core holding. But the income is will be great! Thanks for dropping in!

  2. It looks like you added some real powerhouses to your portfolio. Out of your new purchases I think that I like Genuine Parts the best. I too have recently been looking at the company. They seem to be a well run company that has gotten beat down in the market lately. Anyways, some great additions. Thanks for sharing.

      Hi MD,

GPC will continue to do well. They have a heck of a business as the go to distributor of parts for the guys that actually do the work on cars. Their wholesale business is massive! Thanks for stopping in and commenting!

  3. That’s a serious amount of new capital and some good-looking stocks! Congratulations and keep up the good work. I’m long CSCO, DIS, and IBM. And I’m looking to add LOW if I can get in at a good price!

    Take care and happy investing.
