Dividend Growth Stocks

Money in the Trough – October Dividend Stock Purchases – 2018

I can’t believe we are already in October.  Anyway, here is what I’ve been buying this month.  It’s been pretty active already.  I keep a running log of every dividend stock I buy which can be viewed in the dividend growth stock purchases section.

All additional purchases made this month will be posted on this page.  I try to invest $2,500 – $4,000 every month.

So far this month, I’ve put a little over $2,900 to work at an average yield of almost 2.8%.  The IRM purchase was bought via DRIP.

What have you been buying this month?

I'm a dividend growth investor who is aiming to retire early in 4 years at the age of 45. My goal is to live off the income my dividend portfolio and rental property produce exclusively and leave the corporate rat race. I hope you will join me in this journey!

Thanks Doug. Found some decent values so far this month. It comes down to portfolio management when there are lots of different companies in all sectors on sale. Good problem to have 😉

  2. Wow, you have been busy indeed. A lot of great names are trading at much better prices these days. I would imagine some more ITW maybe MMM and others that have taken it on the chin this week. Keep up the buying.

Hi DivHut! It’s been a good month for adding some great companies. Wish I would have jumped on more tech last week… MSFT is still way too light in my portfolio. Great to hear from you!

  3. Congrats on the additions to your portfolio. This was a very impressive month for you. Those IRM shares are looking mighty fine right about now. Especially since their dividend was just raised. I am looking forward to collecting this dividend next pay date.

Thanks DRD. It turned out to be a very good month to put money to work! Lots of decent values floated to the surface. I’m surprised how well all the REITs held up over the last few weeks. I’m not sure how they are immune to rising rates…

Hi GDB. I have a half written article on how I choose dividend stocks for my portfolio. I’ll do my best to get it published this month! Thanks for dropping by!

  4. Hi TDP,

Seems like you had a great oktober! It seems we both bought AB Inbev, I just doubled my position in them. I was waiting for the results this week. In my opinion it is good that they did cut the dividend to focus more on reducing their debt load.

    Cheers,
    TLTI

Hi TLTI! I agree, it is good they are focusing on that debt and I think BUD will do just fine longterm (which is why I still have a position). However, I took a gamble when I purchased that they would hold their dividend during this period. Next time, I will have to clean my crystal ball better before quarterly report 😉

      Thanks for dropping by!

  5. Wow, that’s quite a load of shares! I like your purchase of ITW and TXN; great business selling at attractive prices. Looking forward to your buys in November.

    Good luck ????

Thanks DC! It did turn out to be a pretty big month. Ran out of cash in the accounts a little early and wasn’t able to capitalize on some of the better deals. Perhaps we’ll see some even better opportunities over the next few months! Thanks for stopping by!
